Currently on the market:

Ripley "Ripple in Time" Fancy buckskin Appendix QH gelding, 15.3 5 years old - WOW fancy mover!! And color to boot, holy smokes this is a fancy great quality gelding! Rides English and Western, has a neck rein and rides western great, but with the movement for hunters or eventing.

Ripley is a really fun ride, he is well broke and handy, not lazy but not hot, listens well and wonderfully athletic and light on his feet and very comfortable. (He is like riding a stick of butter, he is so smooth and adjustable!) Ripley was originally started as a western horse, and he excels in western sports and is very FUN riding western. He also rides English, he will both frame up and understands dressage basics with plenty of potential to be developed further, and he will also ride on a loose rein and jumps a lovely course of fences! He is currently cantering small courses with lots of filler and he goes around with plenty of gorgeous style, great cadence and consistency, and plenty of scope. If you are shopping for a quality hunter prospect on a relative budget, don't miss out! He has the type everyone looks for. He is brave over fences and not afraid of scary filler and has a gorgeous lopey canter and a beautiful flat kneed trot and incredible natural balance and a soft footfall. This horse has tons of talent to show in the hunter ring and he is ready to be finished in the discipline of your choosing - or, pick more than one! With his athleticism and movement, he would also make a stellar eventing prospect. who would be popular in dressage and scopey over fences and still cover ground without being hard to handle. His gaits are VERY smooth and easy to ride and comfortable. Your back hardly moves!
He would be great for someone who wants a quality prospect to bring along through the levels, or for someone who wants a real quality riding horse for any discipline. He is easy enough for a kid or junior or amateur working with a trainer. He could also go the eventing route for he is scopey and a great mover and very athletic. He has tremendous talent to be developed further in the direction of your choosing, or, he could also be an amazing all-arounder for both English & Western sports.  He is among the top most comfortable horses I've ever ridden and very pleasurable to ride.
Ripley has no vices and no blemishes, no health or soundness issues and he is currently shod all around and ready to join your program. He is easy to have in the barn, gets along well with others, and he ships/loads/ties/bathes, etc. He sells grade, as I do not have papers on him. He is UTD on all care (vaccines, deworming, coggins, farrier, dental, etc).  Ripley has clean x-rays on file.

Ripley is to be listed on Magic Horse Auction (link coming) with a lower reserve that his previous asking price!  We welcome inquiries, try-outs, & PPEs, same as a private listing!

Duke registered Friesian Sport Horse, 14.2H, 5 years old, tricolor paint

Duke is a really cool and interesting horse.  He came to us this past summer and we trail rode him all over the place with a high school student on him and he was great.  He is totally traffic safe and sound.  We trucked him all over and he has no issue loading, shipping, trailering off property and doing things.  He was also broke to drive and I wanted to explore that some more, so I sent him to a professional driving trainer to see where he was at with it, and they drove him on the roads, through traffic and everything and he was great!!  We've now put a lot of extra miles on this guy, quite literally, and I have to say, everyone has fallen in love with how brave, willing, and kind he is.  At just 5 years old (coming 6 soon), he has his whole life ahead of him but at the same time, he has lots of diverse experience.  He is also unique to look at, you won't find another one like him, and he is still technically a pony but he is big enough for most people to ride, I actually had to stick him multiple times because I swore he was 15H not 14.2H because he really looks bigger and you will also think the same.  If you are looking for 15H don't overlook him, he rides and feels like 15H but if you are looking for a large pony, you also found him.  If you want something for kids I do think kids can ride and drive him or if you want something for adults, that will work, or use him for the whole family, take him camping, or turn him into an amazing CDE horse for competitive driving.

In addition to being a good trail rider, Duke is also good to ride in the arena and he is broke to ride English and Western.  Although I would not describe him as a beginner mount at 5 years old, he is friendly to a rider who knows how to trot and hold the reins without hanging on him for balance (basically anyone who can ride the trot and not hang off the mouth so advanced beginner?) because he is easy to ride and smooth.  He is also very sweet, a do gooder, fun, and likes to please.

I would not say he has very fancy buttons in the arena just yet since most of his riding has been on trails and outside the arena, but he has a good solid start and he is easy to ride with the right temperament for most riders.  He is willing to step over logs and other obstacles, he goes through water, and is just a really good guy.  Duke is UTD on his dental, his vaccines, his farrier, deworming, and coggins.  He needs no maintenance, is great to have around, can live or out, gets along with mares and geldings in turn out, is happy and sweet and is just the very BEST boy.  A very very loved and unique gelding in the prime of his life ready for whatever you throw at him!

10K

Dora 15HH draft cross stout built 7 year old mare

Dora is an adorable and thick built mare.  She is broke to ride both English and Western, has been used to round up cattle, jumps a course of fences, trail rides, and been used in a lesson program.  Dora has a bit of a unique story.  She was in our program last winter for a couple of months, during which time we rode her WTC and she started jumping and was jumping small courses.  Before us, she was ridden primarily western on trails and used for ranch work by a family and was the main horse for their 11 year old son to trail ride and use to push cattle.  She was then sold to a lesson program where she ended up being used more for the beginner riders for WTC and jumping.  After awhile, it became clear that Dora does not like being a beginner lesson horse.  It is a very hard job and not for every horse.  Dora seems better suited to either be a 1-person or a family horse, where her routine and the way she is being ridden is more consistent than the unpredictability of a variety of beginners on her.  She will trail ride, WTC and jump for someone who is more secure with their signals and she could even be used for a program with non beginners students like teens or for vaulting.  She has no vices, is an easy keeper, no maintenance, easy to have around, can go barefoot or shod, she is healthy and sound and has a clean PPE on file from last year.
Her owner is asking 12K and is open to reasonable offers.

Rico solid-built 16.2H Friesian x Warmblood gelding, flashy blood bay with 4 white socks and star & snip, 8 yr old.

Rico is safe for just about any level of rider.  He is flashy and fancy for dressage or eventing or foxhunting, and happy to continue with trails as well.  Rico is more whoa than go, and a push ride, he has an awesome rocking chair canter and nice transitions.  He is honest over jumps and canters them nicely out of stride with no fuss on a loose rein.  Rico has extensive trail experience and was the main riding horse for a young girl for a number of years.  Their adventures together included overnight camping and countless trail rides ranging from small to large groups.  This horse is simply a ROCK STAR and that big, solid-built horse who will take care of his rider and he is safe for all rider levels, with no buck or rear and I have not seen him spook under saddle.  I really like this horse for so many different types of riders, he is a true confidence builder.  Because he might be very popular, please text or call or send me a Buyer Form instead of leaving comments to send you his price and videos - I might not see all the comments right away, as anyone else who has ever sold a horse will verify.  His price is set at 16K and it will change if we take him out places, take him hunting or showing, etc. so if you want him at this price please book an appt or contact me.

No soundness issues, no vices, no significant blemishes (he has a small scar on the back of 1 of his heels that is healing over), great feet, not on any maintenance and never has been.  His previous owner had him since he was 3.  He can go barefoot but we have him shod in front shoes currently.  He has thick tree trunk legs, if you like them made right you'll like Rico.  Super cool flashy gelding, THE perfect amateur safe fun great to take lessons on, your trainer will love this horse, flashy mount!

For rehoming fees:

Apache 14.1H 10 year old Paint gelding $800

Apache was used for lessons, and also kids camp.  He rides English & Western and has a cute lope.  Unfortunately, he has an unknown lameness that comes and goes.  We had him x-rayed and while his rads have some minor imperfections, there were no conclusive findings.  My vet believes he needs corrective shoeing with heel support (no he does not have navicular according to rads but his heels are low).  We have not really tried with any corrective shoeing, as we've used him mainly as a babysitter pony for our other smaller horses (and some big ones, too).  At this time, I have opted to find him a new home before winter as that is what will work best for my schedule and workload.  Serious inquiries, only.  A phone call followed by next steps from a good home will get preference in this process.
Rehoming fee is $800

Coming up soon:

Jamison 15/15.1H Morgan draft cross gelding, 5 years old

Trixie 14.2H (a tick under - will qualify for pony card) 10 year old Welsh Quarter pony/Morgan cross mare

Silas 16.1H Clydesdale/warmblood/TB cross gelding, 7 years old

Notes on private sales, policies & expectations:

To tell you about me and my program, all of the horses we list are lovely animals that I have personally and professionally sourced, evaluated, handled, ridden or worked, and I take pride in.  They are all members of our community at our farm and are treated as such.  The background I have particularly enables me to select quality horses, and I work very hard to provide this service.  If a horse has vices, quirks, significant blemishes, or an unsoundness, that info is mentioned in the description for the horse and during discussions.  If a horse is not a good fit for my program, he or she is not offered in our program or is offered with issues mentioned.  So please understand all the horses you see have been professionally sourced and lovingly and professionally maintained as a service for buyers and out of love for the horses.  Our "type" for a horse is an animal who is sound, has a good mind and a forgiving and friendly nature, possesses athleticism and pleasing conformation-- a quality versatile sport horse-- and our many graduates are out there doing wonderful things.   While any horse can act up or react, our horses generally do not have vices either under saddle (like buck/rear/bolt/spooky/hot, etc) and no vices not under saddle either (no cribbing or weaving etc) and are mentally and physically sound.  Most of our horses are amateur-friendly horses, or have the capacity to be if green.  I write full-length ads describing each horse so that you can get a feel for their temperament.  That is the type we tend to carry - quality good horses who have been carefully selected for consideration!

Of course, that does not necessarily mean something we have in stock will work for you, but if not, a future horse may.  My program is intended to be a celebration of the horse, first and foremost.  I believe in all the horses I offer for sale and each one has been chosen by me because I see something special in this horse and I am excited by the prospect of finding their special person.  A lot of hard work and expertise goes into selecting these horses for the specific purpose of being a solid amateur-friendly mount.  That doesn't mean they lack talent for the pros!  It means they are selected specifically for temperament as well as attractiveness.

If you want to keep an eye out for our exciting future listings - please Like or Follow our Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/TBSforsale.  Additionally, if you fill out a form from the Contact Us page, that will put your number on my to-do list to contact you in case a specific horse you note catches your eye!

Horses are sold on first come- first serve basis.  Sorry I can not offer to hold horses for free.  That does not mean you will miss out on a horse you are truly interested in.  I will work with you.  I just cannot hold horses for free, not in today's world.  Thank you for understanding.  Sometimes our horses go QUICK and I have no control over exactly when a horse gets sold to a qualified buyer.  I do my best to notify people when a horse they were interested in is no longer available.  If you're scheduled for an appt later than the current week, I recommend we check in with each other a couple days before the appt to make sure the horse is still available prior to your appt.

Pricing:

I do ask that if you are coming to look at a horse for sale, the price of the horse is within your budget.  If that is not the case, please let's have that discussion before your appt, so that no one's time is wasted.  Please note, I am happy to have that discussion with you, I do prefer to have it before you view the horse, which I think is very fair to us both.

"OBO" means "or best offer", which means a competitive offer, which is sometimes asking price. OBO does NOT mean "negotiable" or how negotiable.  For that, you need to have a discussion with me which includes your offer and terms you are offering (such as how quickly the sale is made*).  If I am openly negotiable on a horse, it will say "negotiable" or "best reasonable offer" by the ad, or you can ask me to find out.  I won't mind or be offended, my only expectation is that you are shopping within your budget or, you've mentioned to me if you are not.

*Sales are not final until the horse is paid for in full with bill of sale signing ownership over to the buyer.  You can keep the horse here for however long is needed.

We can usually assist with delivery if needed, and we work with reputable and affordable shippers who ship nationwide and to Canada.  You can also fly a horse across the country for a reasonable rate.

If you are looking for a GREEN PROSPECT on a budget, let me know.  I come across them but I don't get them because I assume people don't want green.

Appointments: Please be seriously looking to buy if you schedule an appt, if you don't yet have everything in order that is OK we can help you, but please be serious.

Please allow for 70-90 mins to view 1 horse.  On average that is the time it takes and what I have blocked out on my schedule.  It is important you get enough time to view and ride the horse if you are planning to come in person.  Our nearest airport is Dulles. and you can use a rideshare app to reach the barn, or rent a car.  Often appts go late, which I accommodate because I sincerely appreciate your efforts to connect and see the horse and I want you to get the time you need here.  But if you don't feel a connection with the horse, you won't hurt my feelings by just telling me so as soon as you've reached that conclusion.

If you have special needs for your appt, please let me know in advance.  If you are a beginner or have not ridden in a long time, please let me know.  All riders must have a riding helmet.  Please do not wear jeans unless riding western (jeans tear the saddle seams).  Please wear boots with a heel and not sneakers, crocs, or slippers.  We do not allow flipflops or open toed shoes near the horses, for safety of your toes.  You can bring your own saddle.  We also have tack to use here.  Trainers are very welcome to attend with their clients.

We have an indoor arena, so appts can be done in inclement weather usually.  All guests are to sign a liability waiver prior to handling horses.  Buyers are forbidden to enter the stalls or paddocks of any horse other than the one they are coming to see, and during the time of their appointment, after I have greeted you and showed you the horse.  We have privately-owned and sales animals on the property as well as livestock housed on adjacent properties and guests do not have permission to enter those areas or interact with any other animals other than the one(s) the appointment is for.  Thank you for understanding.

For sight-unseen buyers, you can Facetime with horses for remote appts if you are a serious buyer who cannot make it in person.

Horses who are not yet for sale - I cannot promise you that you can see them.  They don't have a price on them, for one.  For two, I take pride in spending the proper amount of time it takes to accurately represent horses, so if the horse isn't yet listed it may mean I haven't finished evaluating it (which may have nothing to do with the horse and more to do with my workload), and I want to do that so I can post all its info and also price it accordingly.  It takes a lot of time and work to get horses on the market and I typically don't rush that process.  The reason I post pics and videos before they are available sometimes is so people can follow along in their posts and thoroughly check out the horse and have a preview as well.  That way they know what is coming up available.  That said sometimes I don't post a whole lot, it just varies depending on what is on my plate.

I appreciate the interest very much and if you are interested in 1 that isn't yet listed, please keep following the Facebook page because I will list it there.

Other services:

Yes we can assist you with finding shipping, board, training, equipment, etc.  We can board or train your horse or you if needed or wanted.  We provide very high quality expertise across a large variety of goals and disciplines.  Do you want feedback on your riding or to take a lesson on the horse?  I am always happy to offer you a riding lesson, yet no one has ever asked me to give them a paid riding lesson on a horse they potentially intend to buy, which I find odd but I do respect it.  I would be very excited if someone did want a lesson during their appt time with the horse.  Why not let me help you?

I am typically a humble person.  But I will tell you one thing about me and my training - I am so confident that I can pinpoint, train, and instruct with effect that I will gladly teach or train someone for FREE* if they can prove I have not helped them (or tried to) in some pretty fundamental way.  I've spent my whole life in horses and I could be going around the country giving clinics, but instead I choose to focus on my training and sales program, where I get to spend every day with the horses themselves.  So if you want or need help, it's there.

*Training or instruction refunds issued at time of service otherwise I assume you're satisfied.

Videos:

Everyone wants the perfect video to analyze over and over, but instead of perfect videos, our videos are CANDID.  This means that contain imperfect moments on purpose, in order to show you what the horse is really like.  This also means you need to conclude that the horse is just being a horse if he has a sloppy transition or something like that here or there.  I will not apologize (or extrapolate) for including imperfections on our videos.  And this is because I believe that horses, ourselves, and life in general, are full of imperfection-- and it is up to us to decide what we are and are not comfortable with and what works for us or not and what we are willing and not willing to work on.  For my horses, I want buyers who really love that horse- and are willing to work with him based on who he is and where he is in his work.  I take pride in offering really nice horses and I want to find them people who appreciate them.  They deserve that grace and empathy and care.  (We all do!)

If you want to see videos, know that all videos are posted to our Facebook page.  New videos will be posted as we get them and not sooner than we can.

Qualified Buyers: We look for qualified buyers for our animals who will provide the animal with a good, caring home.

We reserve the right to refuse a sale of an animal to anyone for any reason.  A qualified buyer by my definition is one who will provide a good home for the horse and treat me and my animals with respect and common courtesy.  Buying for resale or a program is perfectly OK, and I support other professionals.

Communication: For Q & A sessions and longer topics I MUCH prefer phone calls over long texts or emails (I get migraines from the screen and am typically working long hours as well).  I will respond to texts and emails, of course.  But anything involving a lot of back and forth needs to be a call, thank you for understanding.  I put a lot of info right in the ads so please read them fully to make sure you see the info you are looking for as well.  If you leave me your # I will call you, or please fill out a form.

Thanks for reading and happy shopping!  Hope one of our lovelies is the one for you and you the one for him/her!  <3
