Leonardo Fancy mover, gorgeous looks, & outstanding disposition
17hh Reg. FSH gelding, 7 years old, bright bay with diamond-shaped star, stripe, & sock
Leo is the ultimate dream horse. Standing about 17hh tall with a luscious forelock that meets his nose, he is a kind & forgiving sweetheart of a horse who is also majestic and athletically gifted. He is a registered Friesian sport horse, with a beautiful and correct uphill build, canters softly on a cloud, picks up the correct leads, has a big, beautiful trot worthy of any dressage arena, and is a wonderful and patient soul to handle, ride, and work with. Leo has no vices, he is healthy, has no soundness issues, and he comes with a set of clean x-rays and is UTD on all care (vaccines, dental, deworming, coggins, farrier, etc) and not on any maintenance.
He has been in a professional program for over 1 year and is a complete joy in every way. Leo has been ridden western, has received dressage training, liberty work, is getting started jumping, and is also trained to drive. He is a gorgeous mover with a toe-flicking trot and a smooth, uphill canter. He picks up both leads naturally. He enjoys jumping and easily canters fences out of stride, without getting strong. He is delightfully talented for various disciplines, while still possessing a very amateur-friendly type disposition. He is a total sweetheart to work around, he loves people and is immensely kind and focused on his humans. He is voice-trained to WTC/Whoa and will respond to voice commands if needed or wanted. He is great in liberty work and a lot of fun to work alongside on the ground in liberty and will jump jumps on his own if you indicate and has been started on bowing and lying down and desensitized to various props.
He clips, bathes, loads, ships, stands for farrier/vet/dentist, ties, easy to catch, and is extremely well-mannered and a relaxed and happy horse with a very willing to please, outstanding disposition. He is a special horse in many ways and a barn favorite. Has only ever been ridden in a snaffle and is not a "hot" horse, does not need to be worked daily at all. Has a very amateur-friendly disposition and in fact has been ridden & jumped by a 7th grader recently. Despite his moderately tall height, Leo is easy to ride for most rider sizes from petite to tall. Since he has been with me for some time, I am bonded with him and have been slow to sell him, but I am looking for his next partner. If you are looking for that special, majestic, beautiful, kind & talented partner, don't delay to inquire about this very special horse.
Serious inquiries only, please, thank you. Shipping available in US & Canada

Coming up, date TBA:
Lancelot, "Lance"
2020 reg. Friesian sport horse gelding, 16+/16.1hh, black (registered as dark brown but looks black)
WOW. There are few words to really describe Lance, maybe UNICORN and SAINT and GIFTED can come close. He is truly such a special and perfect horse that his breeder should be immensely proud. (Lance is sired by a Friesian/Morgan stallion so he is a true American sporthorse in his breeding and not a Friesian crossed with another breed to make a half-draft.) Lance has every checkbox I can think of as a sport horse:
- He is light on his feet with a soft footfall and a cat-like elasticity
- He is amateur-safe, forgiving, tolerant, not hot, does not need to be ridden daily, no prep needed = the right brain for the Amateur rider who wants a horse they can trust.
- He rides in a simple snaffle. End of story.
- He is easy to turn and maneuver - if I can do it with 1 hand, loose rein, and no stirrups, that should tell you something about how easy he is.
- He is smooth and comfortable - making no stirrup time a breeze, and saving all that bounce on your back. QUALITY gaits. Posting his trot is optional bc it is so comfortable you can sit it easily if you want. His canter is rolling and smooth.
- He has great manners. Stands great for everything - farrier, vet, dentist, bathing, etc. Loads on the trailer. A peach in turn-out. Easy to catch, loves people, loves attention, polite, mannerly. A GOOD boy with a nice personality that you would want to have around and love on every day.
- Lance has a giving, trying nature with a generous and obedient personality.
- He is an "old soul" and does not act goofy or silly when you are riding him.
- He is well-balanced and picks up the correct leads naturally.
- Lance likes jumping and possess as effortless jump with plenty of impressive scope.
- Lance is sound with clean legs, he is blemish-free, and he has no vices. He has great feet as well.
This horse would look great in any upscale barn, but he is also sweet enough to live in your backyard if you want a truly special friend and to indulge yourself in a classy sporthorse who oozes class and will be competitive up the dressage levels, in eventing, combined driving, or take him on trail rides and go foxhunting and hilltoppinh! Use him as a fancy guest horse if you wish. I am sure Lance can do more than one of these things. Lance already neck-reins, has a dressage base, jumps, trail rides, and drives. More info coming once we are ready to make Lance available to the public. Stay tuned!

Notes on private sales, policies & expectations:
To tell you about me and my program, all of the horses we list are lovely animals that I have personally and professionally sourced, evaluated, handled, ridden or worked, and I take pride in. They are all members of our community at our farm and are treated as such. The background I have particularly enables me to select quality horses, and I work very hard to provide this service. If a horse has vices, quirks, significant blemishes, or an unsoundness, that info is mentioned in the description for the horse and during discussions. If a horse is not a good fit for my program, he or she is not offered in our program or is offered with issues mentioned. So please understand all the horses you see have been professionally sourced and lovingly and professionally maintained as a service for buyers and out of love for the horses. Our "type" for a horse is an animal who is sound, has a good mind and a forgiving and friendly nature, possesses athleticism and pleasing conformation-- a quality versatile sport horse-- and our many graduates are out there doing wonderful things. While any horse can act up or react, our horses generally do not have vices either under saddle (like buck/rear/bolt/spooky/hot, etc) and no vices not under saddle either (no cribbing or weaving etc) and are mentally and physically sound. Most of our horses are amateur-friendly horses, or have the capacity to be if green. I write full-length ads describing each horse so that you can get a feel for their temperament. That is the type we tend to carry - quality good horses who have been carefully selected for consideration!
Of course, that does not necessarily mean something we have in stock will work for you, but if not, a future horse may. My program is intended to be a celebration of the horse, first and foremost. I believe in all the horses I offer for sale and each one has been chosen by me because I see something special in this horse and I am excited by the prospect of finding their special person. A lot of hard work and expertise goes into selecting these horses for the specific purpose of being a solid amateur-friendly mount. That doesn't mean they lack talent for the pros! It means they are selected specifically for temperament as well as attractiveness.
If you want to keep an eye out for our exciting future listings - please Like or Follow our Facebook page:

Horses are sold on first come- first serve basis. Sorry I can not offer to hold horses for free. That does not mean you will miss out on a horse you are truly interested in. I will work with you. I just cannot hold horses for free, not in today's world. Thank you for understanding. Sometimes our horses go QUICK and I have no control over exactly when a horse gets sold to a qualified buyer. I do my best to notify people when a horse they were interested in is no longer available. If you're scheduled for an appt later than the current week, I recommend we check in with each other a couple days before the appt to make sure the horse is still available prior to your appt.
Pricing:
I do ask that if you are coming to look at a horse for sale, the price of the horse is within your budget. If that is not the case, please let's have that discussion before your appt, so that no one's time is wasted. Please note, I am happy to have that discussion with you, I do prefer to have it before you view the horse, which I think is very fair to us both.
"OBO" means "or best offer", which means a competitive offer, which is sometimes asking price. OBO does NOT mean "negotiable" or how negotiable. For that, you need to have a discussion with me which includes your offer and terms you are offering (such as how quickly the sale is made*). If I am openly negotiable on a horse, it will say "negotiable" or "best reasonable offer" by the ad, or you can ask me to find out. I won't mind or be offended, my only expectation is that you are shopping within your budget or, you've mentioned to me if you are not.
*Sales are not final until the horse is paid for in full with bill of sale signing ownership over to the buyer. You can keep the horse here for however long is needed.
We can usually assist with delivery if needed, and we work with reputable and affordable shippers who ship nationwide and to Canada. You can also fly a horse across the country for a reasonable rate.
If you are looking for a GREEN PROSPECT on a budget, let me know. I come across them but I don't get them because I assume people don't want green.
Appointments: Please be seriously looking to buy if you schedule an appt, if you don't yet have everything in order that is OK we can help you, but please be serious.
Please allow for 70-90 mins to view 1 horse. On average that is the time it takes and what I have blocked out on my schedule. It is important you get enough time to view and ride the horse if you are planning to come in person. Our nearest airport is Dulles. and you can use a rideshare app to reach the barn, or rent a car. Often appts go late, which I accommodate because I sincerely appreciate your efforts to connect and see the horse and I want you to get the time you need here. But if you don't feel a connection with the horse, you won't hurt my feelings by just telling me so as soon as you've reached that conclusion.
If you have special needs for your appt, please let me know in advance. If you are a beginner or have not ridden in a long time, please let me know. All riders must have a riding helmet. Please do not wear jeans unless riding western (jeans tear the saddle seams). Please wear boots with a heel and not sneakers, crocs, or slippers. We do not allow flipflops or open toed shoes near the horses, for safety of your toes. You can bring your own saddle. We also have tack to use here. Trainers are very welcome to attend with their clients.
We have an indoor arena, so appts can be done in inclement weather usually. All guests are to sign a liability waiver prior to handling horses. Buyers are forbidden to enter the stalls or paddocks of any horse other than the one they are coming to see, and during the time of their appointment, after I have greeted you and showed you the horse. We have privately-owned and sales animals on the property as well as livestock housed on adjacent properties and guests do not have permission to enter those areas or interact with any other animals other than the one(s) the appointment is for. Thank you for understanding.
For sight-unseen buyers, you can Facetime with horses for remote appts if you are a serious buyer who cannot make it in person.
Horses who are not yet for sale - I cannot promise you that you can see them. They don't have a price on them, for one. For two, I take pride in spending the proper amount of time it takes to accurately represent horses, so if the horse isn't yet listed it may mean I haven't finished evaluating it (which may have nothing to do with the horse and more to do with my workload), and I want to do that so I can post all its info and also price it accordingly. It takes a lot of time and work to get horses on the market and I typically don't rush that process. The reason I post pics and videos before they are available sometimes is so people can follow along in their posts and thoroughly check out the horse and have a preview as well. That way they know what is coming up available. That said sometimes I don't post a whole lot, it just varies depending on what is on my plate.
I appreciate the interest very much and if you are interested in 1 that isn't yet listed, please keep following the Facebook page because I will list it there.
Other services:
Yes we can assist you with finding shipping, board, training, equipment, etc. We can board or train your horse or you if needed or wanted. We provide very high quality expertise across a large variety of goals and disciplines. Do you want feedback on your riding or to take a lesson on the horse? I am always happy to offer you a riding lesson, yet no one has ever asked me to give them a paid riding lesson on a horse they potentially intend to buy, which I find odd but I do respect it. I would be very excited if someone did want a lesson during their appt time with the horse. Why not let me help you?
I am typically a humble person. But I will tell you one thing about me and my training - I am so confident that I can pinpoint, train, and instruct with effect that I will gladly teach or train someone for FREE* if they can prove I have not helped them (or tried to) in some pretty fundamental way. I've spent my whole life in horses and I could be going around the country giving clinics, but instead I choose to focus on my training and sales program, where I get to spend every day with the horses themselves. So if you want or need help, it's there.
*Training or instruction refunds issued at time of service otherwise I assume you're satisfied.
Videos:
Everyone wants the perfect video to analyze over and over, but instead of perfect videos, our videos are CANDID. This means that contain imperfect moments on purpose, in order to show you what the horse is really like. This also means you need to conclude that the horse is just being a horse if he has a sloppy transition or something like that here or there. I will not apologize (or extrapolate) for including imperfections on our videos. And this is because I believe that horses, ourselves, and life in general, are full of imperfection-- and it is up to us to decide what we are and are not comfortable with and what works for us or not and what we are willing and not willing to work on. For my horses, I want buyers who really love that horse- and are willing to work with him based on who he is and where he is in his work. I take pride in offering really nice horses and I want to find them people who appreciate them. They deserve that grace and empathy and care. (We all do!)
If you want to see videos, know that all videos are posted to our Facebook page. New videos will be posted as we get them and not sooner than we can.
Qualified Buyers: We look for qualified buyers for our animals who will provide the animal with a good, caring home.
We reserve the right to refuse a sale of an animal to anyone for any reason. A qualified buyer by my definition is one who will provide a good home for the horse and treat me and my animals with respect and common courtesy. Buying for resale or a program is perfectly OK, and I support other professionals.
Communication: For Q & A sessions and longer topics I MUCH prefer phone calls over long texts or emails (I get migraines from the screen and am typically working long hours as well). I will respond to texts and emails, of course. But anything involving a lot of back and forth needs to be a call, thank you for understanding. I put a lot of info right in the ads so please read them fully to make sure you see the info you are looking for as well. If you leave me your # I will call you, or please fill out a form.
Thanks for reading and happy shopping! Hope one of our lovelies is the one for you and you the one for him/her! <3
