Current Events & Blog

December 2023

The New Year of 2024 is almost here and we have not been making regular use of the website, but starting in 2024, we are planning to keep it more up-to-date.  Coming soon - an updated sales page with our current listings.

November (almost December) 2021

Greetings!  I've been using Facebook to update our blog. Our facebook page is: www.facebook.com/TBsforsale and it is the fastest way to get updates on what our horses are up to.  Note, you do not need a facebook account to open it, just a web browser is all that is needed.

September 2020

Wow, first off, my apologies for not updating the website in a long time.  It wasn't bc SRS has been idle.  We've been living in the fast lane for some time, with so much activity that I left the website on the backburner.  I am going to get better about that and start putting more updates here.  But, does anyone read a blog anymore?  I guess I will find out!  Here are the major updates since April 2018:

- we have moved! (this is actually old news, I am sorry!) We are in a new location and expanded to a farm with multiple arenas, trails, and much more!  The horses are very happy.  We still offer lessons, leasing, and horses for sale.

- in fact, I will be updating our sales page soon with lovely prospects, so you might want to start there if you are in the market for something special.  :)

April 25, 2018

Wow, it's been such a busy 2018 so far!  Both the handsome Markus and the incredibly gorgeous Kai found lovely homes!  Markus went to an eventing home and Kai went to a show jumper home.  We welcomed in humongous "Rousseau" over the winter and have a couple of other prospects coming in as well.  We're working on building our outdoor hunt course.  With the warmer weather, we have a few new-er riders at the barn since my last update: Nicole (2nd Nicole!), Aimee, Mary & Natalia!  A HUGE welcome to you all!  Things are busy busy busy and we look forward to the rest of Spring and Summer ahead!

January 1, 2018

Happy New Year!  From the longest chill I have experienced in VA!  This week has seen single-digit lows and highs in the 20s.  All the horses are heavily bundled with free-choice hay and lots of water.  We have postponed lessons until the weather warms back up to seasonal temperatures (hopefully next week).  In the meantime, a few updates to share:

Congratulations to Holly, on her purchase of the lovely Donner, a 7-year-old TB gelding who retired after a long and successful career on the track and came to us for his restart.  The tall and stately Donner was very popular and had a lot of attention.  We look forward to hearing all about his new life with Holly!

We have a few horses coming available for lease soon.  We are also working to build weekly jump clinics and we have the supplies to construct our hunt course once the weather gives.

Due to the cold, I'm postponing listing any horses for sale right this moment, but we do have a few lovely, very talented fancy geldings in the barn.  Keep your eyes peeled once the weather warms, or if you are looking for something particular, contact me -- I might have it!

November 2017

Our website is currently being updated to reflect all our new updates!  I haven't written in awhile because I have spent the last year building my dream stable!  I am thrilled and proud to announce we are in full swing with constructing a new XC course (should be done in Spring 2018) for all of our young OTTB prospects!  We also have several quality horses for lease and currently two amazing TB geldings for sale.  I will make all these updates to the site soon, stay tuned!

A belated congratulations to Edwin from PA on his purchase of the stunning bay beauty, "Ameera," in September.  Ameera and Ed are soulmates, and it was meant to be!  I will post an update from them soon!

February 2016

It's been a busy winter at work, and between that and the winter weather, I haven't been able to ride as often as I'd like.  Joey (his new name!) found a wonderful home and is going to show in hunter/jumpers as well as be a family member to his new wonderful family.  In my riding, I have been schooling mainly dressage this winter, and am hoping to show in the Spring.  I would also like to start a more in-depth blog with opinion pieces, but right now my writing is tied up in other areas at work.  So this is kind of on the back burner and I will add both in content and in photos later in the Spring.

In the meantime, I learned that Roy, another SRS graduate, took his first ride on the beach despite being an accomplished event horse now (complete with adorable photos courtesy of his horse grandmom), and also that BJ, another SRS graduate, is lookin' good at age 15 and still owned by the same owner I sold him to when he was 8.  I also learned that Penny, one of our lesson and show ponies pictured above (the pinto), was purchased back by an old student of mine at the ripe age of 20! All this has been very heart-warming for me to hear and like a trip down memory lane.  I'm also so happy to see my old friends lookin' so good and still performing in their later years. :-)
